Packing for Iceland

I'm home with a sick little guy today, so I decided to get back on our blog and get ready for the next Deppe Six Pack adventure.  Nick has a nasty virus, and he simply has to get better soon because we leave in three days for Iceland!
For those new to our family's travel blog, welcome!  For those who followed us around the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and most recently Michigan, welcome back.  We are in the crazy mess of preparing for our next big adventure to Iceland.
We are a family of six that loves to travel.  Mike and I hope to instill to our children a sense of wonder and joy for learning about the world around us.  So, during their senior year, we are letting the kids pick where we go for a family vacation.  With Drew's final year of high school underway, he got to pick a location for us to explore.  After bouncing all around the planet with ideas and mom & dad shooting a few down (no, son...we're not taking our family of six to Russia right now!), he settled on Iceland.
Iceland is a European country about the size of Ohio in the middle of the northern Atlantic ocean.  October is supposed to be their rainiest and windiest season, but we are not afraid.  We've been planning for months and months, and we cannot wait to find views like these:

We will be renting a small European camper in order to drive the Ring Road around the entire island nation.  We're excited to see more black sand beaches like last summer in Hawaii, but we've also been preparing for colder weather and rain.  Packing mummy sleeping bags for the cold Icelandic nights, rain pants and coats, and waterproof boots for all six of us has been exhausting.  Add in  researching all that we want to see and gathering passports...the trip almost hasn't seemed real until now since we've put so much effort just into the planning.  But, it's almost here....we're off on this new adventure on Thursday.  Check back in the coming days to follow along with us as we check out Iceland!
One giant bag...just for sleeping bags and rain gear!
