For those of you just finding us, this is a new Blogspot location for our travel journal. Our old travel journal was started while I worked for Franklin Community Schools. In fact, that PNW trip was funded through a grant I won from FCS called the 10X Grant. However, after nearly 20 years in public education, all of which were spent at Franklin Schools, I left the classroom in the early spring and took a new position. I am now the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Johnson County Recycling District. I get to use my MBA (that I worked hard to earn over the last two summers) and continue work that combines my love of education with my love for recycling, nature, and saving our planet. It's the perfect job for me! Anyway, our family travel blog is now at www.deppesixpackadventures.blogspot.com due to that change in our lives.
Down below, I'll post a few pics of our PNW trip from last year. But the big news is that we're headed to Hawaii this summer! Mike's parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, and they are taking us all along to Hawaii to commemorate the special occasion. We're hoping to get to see three of Hawaii's National Parks: Haleakala, Kalaupapa, and Volcanoes...although that last one depends a lot on the massive eruptions they've had lately on the Big Island. Then in 2020, Livy and I will be back through Hawaii with her Girl Scout travel troupe, and we'll get to see the fourth Hawaiian National Park when we visit the World War II memorial.
So, we're back on the blog, sharing adventures of our traveling-loving family. As we say, "have kids,
Go see the world! ~ Kea
